Roddick had his chance to break Federer in the 5th but choked....deserves to loose.  He Just didn't have enough weapons for Federer.

Roddick overachieved all tournament and really gave RFed all he could handle.  For a guy who is not comfortable at the net he really played well.  But yes he missed some key opportunities and eventually lost. A devastating loss.  We'll see at the US open if he has recovered.

I reject you totally.

Whatever his coach, Larry Stefanki, has done with Roddick it is working.  Roddick is now a different player. His groundstrokes have become more devastating. He hits the ball flatter and harder now. His backhand is no longer a liability. And, actually his backhand down the line worked so well against Federer.

Roddick's serve, which has always been his major asset, is also becoming a lot harder to read. The proof was the fact that Federer was unable to break him throughout the final until the very last game.

Some miscues in the fifth do not a choker make.  You might as well say that if Federer was truly great, he should've closed it out sooner.

The guy was so devastated that he had to withdraw from the Davis Cup, so we'll see if he can rebound, no matter what his coach has done with him. And just a month ago he could do nothing at the French.

You don't think he has a hip pointer (or flexor, I forget which) then? That's the reason given for a withdrawal. I wouldn't be so surprised of an injury happening after such an arduous match.
