Dodger app for iphone/itouch -- iDisappointing
So like any self-respecting sports nut, I want the latest sports info about my team at my fingertips. I don’t have an iphone but I do have the iTouch to 2G and I love playing with those apps. So, for my super cool iTouch (2G), I downloaded the Baseball Fans—Los Angeles D app by Artic Gerbil Creations 2009 ©.
The app features: results, standing, player stats, summary, and schedule. It also allows you to tell a friend and chat. This all sounds great. Except for that it doesn’t work as well as you would hope.
Two big problems with the app.
One: Although you get the schedule, when you pull it up it does not tell you which are home games and which are away games. You will have to rely on your own knowledge of when Dodger games usually start to guess whether you’re looking at a home game or not. Or you can go online or to the newspaper, which of course, defeats the purpose of this app. Also, when the schedule comes up, it comes up in chronological order so you have to scroll down to get to the most recent game. The schedule should really open to the present and give you the ability to look at the schedule of games previously played.
Two: But the biggest problem is that the app is not updated frequently enough. I don’t mean updates to address technical issues. I mean that the app runs at least one game late. You want last night’s score today? Forget it. You may get that score tonight, if you’re lucky. You should wait until tomorrow. So at its fastest, you will be one game score behind. So, do you really think the stats are going to be update? The chat feature is cool but, what am I going to chat about, asking about the latest score because it’s not on my app?!
Until they can get this app to real-time, you are better getting your Dodger fix elsewhere.
I’ll remain vigilant for other apple apps that make a life of sports vents worth living.
